WOW, I'm a believer! Imagine what your oil filter ISN'T catching...
"These Gold Plugs are absolutely fantastic. First, let me say that I'm not affiliated with Gold Plug, nor have I been compensated by them with money or free products. I'm just writing some glowing praise and a review for anyone that is considering purchasing one of these for their cars or motorcycles. I purchased several of these for my motorcycles and scooters earlier this year. After my most recent oil change in my motorcycle, I'm a believer (see the attached pictures and video for proof).I installed this magnetic drain bolt in a 2008 Yamaha XT250. This motorcycle has always been maintained very well, and the oil has been changed every 1500-2000 miles like clockwork with high quality synthetic... this stuff --> Castrol 06116 Power1 V-Twin 20W-50 Synthetic 4T Motorcycle Oil - 1 Quart Bottle, (Pack of 6). The Gold Plug MP-01 was installed at 14500 miles with a fresh oil and filter change. I changed the oil again today (12/27/2016) at 16500 miles and the magnet was completely covered in ferrous metal sludge. I was shocked at what was captured by the magnet. Some of the particles weren't just microscopic shavings... they were significant enough to be splinters that you wouldn't want to get stuck in your finger. I can't imagine what has been circulating around in the sump and NOT being captured by the oil filters over the past 14500 miles! Luckily, I have already installed Gold Plugs in several newer bikes in the garage, so I don't have to worry about them as much. Now I will be purchasing Gold Plugs for for my cars, too!"

As a race car driver...."As a race car driver, I rely on every component of my engine to perform flawlessly. I installed the GoldPlug magnetic drain plug as a precaution, and it proved to be a lifesaver. During an oil change, I found a piece of timing chain stuck to the magnet. This alerted me to a serious issue that needed immediate attention. Thanks to my GoldPlug, I was able to replace the broken timing chain before catastrophic engine failure occurred on the track. I can’t stress enough how invaluable this product is. It’s cheap insurance for some peace of mind. Highly recommended!"

Strong Magnet Catches Wear Particles“I have now had these magnetic plugs in my Prius for one oil change each and they have successfully caught a lot of ferrous particles on a normal manufacturer recommended oil change interval. These magnets are strong enough that prior to installation I was able to pick up my torque wrench with one. If you are planning on trading in your engine soon it won’t make a difference for you, but I plan on keeping my engines for over 10 years. These magnets are a very cheap way of decreasing circulating abrasive particles that may be too small for the oil filter to catch, or could otherwise clog the oil filter and force the bypass valve to allow oil to circulate unfiltered.”
Keep Metal Particles Out Of Your Oil“I’m a mechanic. For my own car I don’t like metal particles in the oil. Just like your oil filter which tries to remove foreign material. I add a GoldPlug® to all my cars. There is a small amount of metal on the magnetic drain plug when doing an oil change. I’ve tried the cheaper magnetic drain plugs but too often they will strip the oil pan drain threads or just come apart. The GoldPlug® is the best.”
Excellent Addition To My Oil Changes“I switched all of my vehicle drain plugs to GoldPlug® after my first few changes using it. The first oil change was full of microscopic metal filings. The second change produced quite a bit less and by the third it was nearly clean. Even being clean I now have a much better feeling about how clean my engines are running. Highly recommend them!”
High Quality, Works Great“High quality, does exactly what you expect. Used this for years. When changing my oil, there would always be a small layer/film of metal “dust” stuck on the bottom of this thing – metal particles that WEREN’T floating around in my engine. There is no reason not to use something like this. It can’t hurt and it’s almost stupid not to.”
Author's nameWorth The Price For Peace of Mind“Installed on my 2017 Toyota Tacoma 3.5l. Perfect fit and noticed the magnet is quite strong as well. Small price for peace of mind with a new vehicle in my opinion, especially considering these trucks use canisters instead of spin-on filters .... eliminating the ability to affix an aftermarket magnet to the filter.”
A Cheap Way To Keep MetalOut Of Oil Circuit“I installed a GoldPlug® in my 2013 Toyota Rav4 at 29,000 miles. At the end of a recent oil change (9,000 miles on Toyota oil and OEM filter), I had approximately 1/2 mm of fine ferrous sludge on the magnetic drain plug. After 60,000 miles and 6 oil changes, I have no leaks. I give it a hearty 5 stars for being a cheap way to keep ferrous metal out of the oil circuit.”
One Of The First Things I Buy“I’ve been using these for years in multiple cars, always one of the first things I buy when purchasing a car. Great product!”
